A third shooting incidence in Owo, Ondo State has been reported barely eight weeks after the first at a Catholic Church on Pentecost Sunday.
The incidence which took place on Wednesday night, occured at Craneburg Construction Company; where some unknown gunmen opened fire and caught residents and bystanders of Folahanmi Street unaware.
Although, the shooting is not officially linked with any terrorist groups or the recent bandit activities in the country, many believe it’s not unconnected. Three persons were also hit by bullets, while more are believed to be injured.
Ondo State Police Command further confirmed the unfortunate incident via a tweet, and assured that the victims are being treated.
‘Tonight, there was a shooting incident at Craneburg Construction Company, Owo.
‘Policemen are currently at the scene, victims have been taken to hospital and they are in stable condition.
‘Security personnel have been drafted to the area,’ the tweet read.
On the sporadic rumour of a bomb explosion, there are witness accounts of bomb explosives employed by the gunmen at Folahanmi Street. However, Spokesman of Ondo State Police, Fumilayo Odunlami, denied any knowledge of it, but insisted it was a shooting incident that left at least three people injured.
She echoed the words of an ongoing investigation to bring the perpetrators to book; and pleaded with the residents not to panic.
