Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea FC who was sanctioned by the United Kingdom Government last week, was spotted at a VIP Lounge at an Israeli airport, fleeing to Turkey.

The sanctioned billionaire who’s private jet landed in Israel at Ben Gurion airport, flew to Turkey barely 24 on arrival, after the Israeli government warned that the Country will not be used as a Safe Heaven for sanctioned Russian Oligarchs.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry had earlier formed a task force to investigate the influence of some Russian business executives, especially those with alleged ties to the Kremlin, in Israel.

Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid also warned his cabinet members against granting the oligarchs favors, citing such moves would cause diplomatic damage, according to an official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

“Israel will not be a route to bypass sanctions imposed on Russia by the United States and other Western countries,” Yair Lapid said on Monday during a visit to Slovakia.

Abramovich was among seven Russian billionaires added to a British sanctions list last week, in an attempt to isolate President Vladimir Putin over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Premier League had also disqualified Roman Abramovich as a director at Chelsea, after the Club’s assets were frozen by UK government imposed sanctions.
