Interim Manager of the Nigerian Super Eagles team, Austin Eguavoen, has been awarded the Best Manager accolade of the group stage by Confederation of Africa Football (CAF); at this year’s tournament.

The gaffer who has had a perfect start to his interim role in Cameroun finished top of Group D with three wins in three games.

By doing so, Eguavoen becomes the first Nigerian coach to achieve the fit; as he guided the Nigerian team to the round of 16. His team also scored a collective 6 goals conceding just one against Sudan. His style of player has also endeared locales and football faithfuls to him, following an impressive outing at the tournament so far.

Furthermore, Cameroun’s forward, Vincent Aboubaker was named Best Player after netting a tally of 5 goals in three group stage matches.

Guinean promising player, Illaix Moriba, won the Best Young Player of the group stage following an astounding performance during his time on the pitch for the African side.

Best Goalkeeper accolade was given to Egypt’s goalie, Mohammed El Shenawy, for his electrifying displaying between the sticks for his country.

Nigeria will now face Tunisia in a Sunday clash at the Roumde Adjia Stadium, Garoua; for a chance to advance into the quarter finals of the tourney.
