At a press conference held after the signing of the joint declaration, Isreali Prime Minister Lapid told President Joe Biden that diplomacy won’t stop Iran from going nuclear

“Words will not stop them, Mr. President,” said Lapid. “Diplomacy will not stop them. The only thing that will stop Iran is knowing that if they continue to develop their nuclear program the free world will use force. The only way to stop them is to put a credible military threat on the table.”

“It should not be a bluff, but the real thing. The Iranian regime must know that if they continue to deceive the world, they will pay a heavy price,” he added.

Speaking after Lapid, Biden said, “I continue to believe that diplomacy is the best way.” He added that there is “an ironclad commitment from the United States of America to Israel’s security.”

The joint declaration also includes a pledge by Washington to continue US military aid to Israel.

President Biden who spoke on the event of resorting to military force—as last resort, touched on the U.S. long-standing allegiance with Israel. This he did shortly after arriving at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv.

‘The connection between the Israeli people and the American people is bone deep. It’s bone deep,’ he said.

Lapid was also on ground to welcome the POTUS on Thursday.

‘We will discuss the need to renew a strong global coalition that will stop the Iranian nuclear program,’ Lapid reiterated.

Although, Biden avoided questions on possible repercussions for Israel if they act ‘militarily’ against Iran without afore knowledge, experts believe tensions still exist between U.S. and Israel over their desire to enforce a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action compliance on Iran. Biden still remains hopeful that Iran will act accordingly with the deal established seven years ago. He however stated that he will not remove Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from the U.S. list of terrorist organizations.

In the hours after his arrival in Tel Aviv, the POTUS demanded for a briefing on the Iron Dome defense system owned by Israel. The beam which is capable of eliminating hundreds of rockets in short range, could prove vital in a final resort scenario. Briefing on the new laser-operating version was also received by Biden.
